La cantante estadounidense Ariana Grande participará el domingo en un concierto benéfico en el estadio de cricket de Old Trafford , en Manchester , a fin de recaudar fondos para las víctimas del atentando ocurrido en esa ciudad el día 23.
La artista norteamericana acababa de celebrar un espectáculo en el macroestadio Manchester Arena -con capacidad para 22.000 personas- cuando el terrorista suicida Salman Abedi, de 22 años, detonó un explosivo casero, matando a 22 personas e hiriendo a otras 64, muchas de ellas menores.
Según anunciaron hoy los promotores del concierto, Grande se unirá a otros artistas de renombre internacional como Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus o los grupos Take That y Coldplay en el concierto caritativo, que también persigue honrar a las víctimas.
El estadio de cricket de Old Trafford tiene capacidad para albergar a 50.000 personas y se prevé que el show se retransmitirá en directo por la cadena británica de televisión y radio BBC.
La recaudación irá a parar al llamado fondo de emergencia » We Love Manchester «, que recauda dinero para apoyar a los afectados por lo ocurrido.
La artista estadounidense, que tras los sucedido suspendió su gira «Dangerous Woman» -que incluía dos conciertos en el O2 Arena de Londres-, había prometido regresar a Manchester .
«Volveré a esa ciudad de Manchester increíblemente valiente para pasar tiempo con mis seguidores y para dar un concierto benéfico en honor de las víctimas y recaudar dinero para ellas y sus familias», dijo la artista en las redes sociales.

Los promotores del concierto han ofrecido entradas gratis para aquellos seguidores que se encontraban en el Manchester Arena la noche del ataque terrorista, cuyo autor podría estar vinculado a una red más amplia, según la hipótesis que baraja la policía.
En total, los agentes han detenido a 16 personas en relación con la investigación del atentando, aunque una mujer y un chico de 16 años fueron posteriormente puestos en libertad sin cargos.
