La actriz de origen hondureño América Ferrera, una asidua seguidora de Hillary Clinton y activista migratoria, hablará hoy en la Convención Nacional Demócrata, que proclamará oficialmente a la candidata demócrata.
La protagonista de «Ugly Betty» (Betty la fea) señaló que la «enfermaron» las «mentiras» durante la Convención Nacional Republicana de la semana pasada, al señalar que hay que ceñirse a los «hechos» y no dejar avanzar las «mentiras» sobre la comunidad hispana e inmigrante.
Las declaraciones, que hizo este viernes al programa «Real Time with Bill Maher», fueron un anticipo de su participación hoy en el cónclave demócrata, que se realiza desde este lunes en Filadelfia (EE.UU).
La actriz, que también apoyó la candidatura de Clinton en 2008, expresó que los inmigrantes, según varios estudios son menos propensos a cometer crímenes.
Ferrera se refirió así a los comentarios del candidato republicano, Donald Trump, que ha llamado a los inmigrantes mexicanos violadores y criminales.
La actriz hispana, de 32 años, que aseguró que su activismo se debe a que son problemas que le atañen como hija de inmigrantes, lamentó que los republicanos «no pueden estar más equivocados» acerca de esta comunidad.
